Elder Child Abuse Introduction
According to the World Health Organization: "Elder abuse is a single or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person. This type of violence constitutes a violation of human rights and includes physical,
sexual, psychological, and emotional abuse; financial and material abuse; abandonment; neglect; and serious loss of dignity and respect."
MISTREATING ELDERLY PEOPLE:
We are all going to grow old one day. There is a saying that how we treat someone is the way we shall be treated. Conversely, how we treat elderly people is how we shall be treated as an elder person. You must always love elderly People. Respect who they are and what they have to offer in life. Their wisdom and knowledge of life can be used as a foundation to build your own life and live accordingly. Care for the elder when they are sick and love them when they are lonely. Regardless of how frail they may become, always make them feel that they are still needed in life. Irrespective of how soft-spoken their voice diminishes too, always make them feel that they are easy to hear. Constantly make elderly people that they are a significant part of your life, including family reunions, holiday affairs, or just quiet moments while they sit and reminisce with you about the joyous or tragic moments of their past.
SOMETIMES THE ONLY THING THAT IS VISIBLE ARE TEARS (WORLD ELDER ABUSE WEBSITE)“The distressing crime of elder abuse often occurs in private settings, making a vocal, public response that much more important. Let us strengthen our resolve to end this problem as part of our broader efforts to create a life of dignity for all.”
